What is the difference between EDI, ERA and EFT?
These are all types of enrollments with insurances, but what do the mean?
EDI = Electronic Data Interchange. (This is a fancy name for an electronic claim.)
ERA = Electronic Remittance Advice. (AKA an EOB or Explanation of benefits sent electronically)
EFT = Electronic Funds Transfer (Fancy name for direct deposits. These are set up directly with the insurance, not within TheraNest)
EDI enrollment is the ability to send claims electronically, so if the insurance doesn't require EDI enrollment then you can send claims right away!
The ERA enrollments are only if you are wanting the Remittances sent electronically instead of in paper form. These are not needed for payment or anything, but are a nice time saver when processing claims.
